Good Times in the Month of June

Alyssa's recital, NBA playoff watch party with the Wrights, Susan G Komen 5K, playdate with coworker's kids, Genevieve's high school graduation party, Father's day in Louisiana, backyard summer fun with friends and family and pre Fourth of July Celebration. Wow, What a fun filled month!!

We started the month with Alyssa's very first dance recital. She was soo stinking cute. She was really excited to see all of her guest in the audience. There was her favorite uncle, Montrell, the Daniel family from Houston and of course the Wright family ( who postponed their Florida trip by one day to see her dance). She absolutely LOVED all the attention. I think her favorite part was receiving flowers and wearing makeup.

Our next big event was Father's Day in Louisiana. I really never get a chance to spend time with my father when I go home. He is such a busy guy. So several months ago I told him that I wanted him to pencil me into his busy life. I told him that I would come home on Father's day and cook for him. Don't worry guys, Mom helped me a LOT with the meal. He really seemed to have enjoyed himself. I was so proud of him. He gave us about five hours of quality time. We lucked out because he had Father's day off from the prison ministry, but he did make hospital rounds later that evening.

While in Louisiana, I did visit my Poppa Sam (grandfather) in the hospital. His health has declined since my last visit a couple of months ago. It is very hard for me to see my Poppa confined to a bed. So I am asking for prayers for him and my family. Thanks.

Our next big family fun day was my city's pre- fourth of July celebration. It was soo much fun. Our friends and family usually park at our house and walk to the city park for a free concert and fireworks. Everyone had a good time. Unfortunately, Alyssa and I had to leave early. After the 2nd puking episode I thought I should be a good mother and take her home. Kudos to my hubby for recording the fireworks show on his cell phone. I would have never thought of doing that. It really made Alyssa's day. He really is a thoughtful guy. :-)

Enjoy our June pictures and thanks for taking the time for reading our family blog. See ya in July!!!

Zoo Day!!!!!!!

The kids have been begging us to take them to the zoo, so we spent Memorial Day at the zoo since Elijah and I were both off. We arrived at 10 am and departed at 4 pm. What a long day! The kids really had a good time. Daniel enjoyed the dinosaur exhibits and Alyssa loved just about EVERYTHING. What a great family day.

Our Ballerina

Well Alyssa has completed her 1st year of dance and her recital is next week. We had our dress rehearsal this week and last day of class was today. She LOVES to dance. I am so happy that she did not receive my dancing gene (no rhythm). She wants to take dance this summer but Elijah and I have decided we need a break from all activities this summer.

AWANA 2011

Wow, I can't believe how much my kids have learned through this ministry. Both Alyssa and Daniel completed their books this year and received their Cubbie book award on Wednesday night. I was so proud of them. They have memorized 32 bible verses this year :-). I must say it is not the easiest task to teach bible verses to a 4 and 5 year old, but we did it. We recite bible verses on the way to school, on the way from school, during meals, at bedtime and bath time. They have not only learned bible verses, but they also know bible stories and have learned to pray. I am so grateful for this ministry and the wonderful volunteers at our church.

Easter Weekend 2011

We went to visit our families Easter weekend. The kids spent time with both sets of grandparents, and I hung out with my Grandma and visited my Papa in the hospital. There is nothing like spending time with family. Alyssa and Daniel really enjoyed themselves. They especially enjoyed visiting Uncle Big Mike at the fire station and Pawpaw Wesley at Louisiana Machinery.
Please forgive us if we didn't see you this trip. We will be back this summer. We definitely have to visit my cousin Katherine and her new bundle of joy, my brother Al and his family and our Winnsboro family the next time.
