Grateful, Thankful, Blessed (Fall 2016🌻)

Last week my cousin Sasha asked me about my blog. I originally started blogging for my family. Since we live out of state I wanted to keep them posted on what was going on with Me, Elijah and the kids. Life got busy, the kids grew up and the blog post became few and far between. So, Sasha Green, this post is for you .

I want to take this time and thank everyone for the support, words of encouragement ( text, phone calls, emails), prayers, hugs,  home cooked meals and floral arrangements given to our family during the passing of my sister in law, Dr. Cassandra Daniel. In the midst of our sorrow we saw God's Light through each of you, and for that we are thankful. It totally sucks that she is no longer with us, but there is peace in knowing that she has an eternal home in heaven. According to 2 Corinthian 5:8 to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. Although my heart hurts over the loss of Cassie and I don't understand why she was taken away from us so soon, I will focus on what's eternal. There is life after death and we will one day live forever with God without sin and suffering (2Corinthian 4:18)

On September 22 we  celebrated Alyssa's 11th birthday.     She received a purse, headphones and an emoji pillow from us.  Daniel kind of lost his cool over dinner and we had to bring him back to reality.  He wanted to know what our budget was for Alyssa's birthday .  He then asked if her purse was real leather. Lol.  What will we ever do with our frugal kid? There's never a dull moment with him around .

MATTHEW 28:19-20 THREFORE GO AND MAKE DISCIPLES OF ALL NATIONS, BAPTIZING  THEM IN THE NAME OF THE FATHER, THE SON AND THE HOLY SPIRIT. AND TEACHING THEM TO OBEY EVERYTHING I HAVE COMMANDED YOU.

I came across these pictures that Elijah and I took last year at our church couples event called FIGHT NIGHT.  How ironic that I found these pictures after we had a HUGE blow up.  There were so many take aways from this night, but my most memorable was when Pastor Eric said that sometimes you have to agree to disagree and let God fill the gap.  According to the recent church bulletin the next Fight Night is next month.   I guess you know that we will be there because our marriage is worth fighting for.  It's not always easy, but it is worth it. #INVESTINYOURMARRIAGE

Thanks so much for taking the time to read my blog again.  Please continue to keep my brother Michael in your prayers.

Fall 2015

I can't believe its November 1st already.  These last 2 months have been pretty hectic but fun.   Halloween was yesterday and the kids had a blast as usual.  They celebrated their cousin Mackenzie's birthday party at the bowling alley and then they went trick or treating in the neighborhood.

Cousin Karmin came to spend the weekend with us

On Wednesday, they went to the church carnival and had a blast.

Daniel wasn't afraid to ride the pirate ship

Last weekend was Grambling's Homecoming.  We decided to go to the game to support my high school classmate, Coach Fobbs. This was the kids first college football game.  We had a blast despite the rain.

The first weekend in October was my high school homecoming.  I had not planned on attending this year, but I happened to be in town for my Mom's knee surgery. Special thanks to my sweet cousin Gwen for staying with Mom for a few hours while I hung out with some of my old friends.  My high school friends are the BEST.  I am so blessed to be a part of the Carroll High School/ Booker T Community Family.

Last but definitely not least............. In September we celebrated Alyssa's 10th birthday.  Her birthday weekend was the same weekend as the balloon festival. She hung out with her cousins,  God sister and BFF.  Of course she had a blast because we made the weekend and her special day ALL ABOUT HER!!!!!  Daniel, on the other hand wasn't happy with us.  He thought we spent way too much money on Alyssa and he told us not to even think about doing the same thing for him.

Yes, she went shopping at the American Girl doll store, and yes her brother was mad at her for spending so much money on a suitcase for her dolls.

My sweet niece, Madison made homecoming court.  How exciting!!!!  I had to work, but Elijah went to the game to see her.

Back2School 2015/ Labor Day

I can't believe that the we just completed the third week of the 2015-2016 school year.  The kids seem to be doing well.  We were blessed to have 2 teachers that we already know.  Daniel has Alyssa's teacher from last year and Alyssa has Daniel's old Kindergarten teacher ( she now teaches 4th). Below are a few pictures from the neighborhood Back to School Parade, Meet the Teacher Night and the first day of school.

I would like to publicly thank Elijah for holding the fort down  during the first week of school.  My work schedule was crazy and I was useless around the house and a little grumpy (just a little :-).

 Labor Day Weekend

The kids had a road trip with their cousins this past weekend.  We loaded up the car and drove to Austin for the Lego Kids Fest.  They had a blast. We drove in on Friday evening and went to the Lego Festival on Saturday morning and then walked to the Capitol that afternoon. We went hiking Sunday in Dripping Springs (Hamilton Pool) and we headed back home on Monday.

And Yes, I made them matching shirts for the Lego Festival.  I think they turned out pretty cute myself.
