Today was Storybook Day at school. The kids could dress like any storybook character as long as they brought the book to school. Of course Daniel chose Mickey Mouse and the fabulous Alyssa chose Fancy Nancy.
A couple of weeks ago the kids had Crazy Hair Day at church on Wednesday night. Daniel chose a rainbow afro wig because he loves Madagascar 3 (Afro Circus). Alyssa wore a pink wig. She said several of her friends at church asked her if she was trying to be Katie Perry or Nikki Minaj. Her reply was "NO, I am ALYSSA WILLIAMS and I just wanted to wear a pink wig". :-) You just have to love Alyssa and ALL of her personality.
Last weekend we had our annual pumpkin carving and cupcake decorating family fellowship with the Wright and Jones families. The kids always have a blast when they are together.
We didn't go to the pumpkin patch this year. :-( We just went to the local Methodist Church to pick our carving pumpkins. The kids were okay with that and I was able to take pictures so everybody was happy in the end.
As you can see October was filled with many dress up days. Well, I forgot that they had a costume day for ballet class. GUESS WHAT????? She was the only one NOT in costume. I honestly felt bad after I saw her crocodile tears. :-( I did promise her an oreo cookie blizzard from DQ. That seemed to dry up her tears. It is tough being Alyssa sometimes.
They had western day at school last week. Thank goodness I kept the cowboy hat and bandanna party favors they received two years ago at a party. These items definitely came in handy on Western Day.
Elijah ran a mud run last week with his coworkers. I am soo proud of him. He wants to do another one in the Spring when it is warmer. He asked me to do it with him, but I'll pass. Running in the mud just doesn't seem fun to me.
The kids finished their first 9 weeks and they did well. Daniel will start SSI (student Success Initiative) and speech during the second 9 weeks. Daniel does well with his sight words but not being able to make certain sounds correctly affects his spelling/stretching out words to communicate in his journal writing. So I am asking for prayers for Daniel in that his speech issues resolve and that he continues to develop socially and academically. Daniel is a very smart guy and I believe that catching these things early will help him be successful in school.
I am getting ready to pick up the kids from school. Alyssa has ballet today. Since today is Halloween they can wear costumes again. I will definitely redeem myself today. Later tonight we will go trick or treating with the Clarke's. I will try to add costume pictures before I publish the blog.
