February Update

Well, things are much better since my last post. Denim came home last Thursday, and he is improving each day. (For example, last night he lifted his hind leg to urinate). We are still very careful with him around the kids, because he is very protective of his incision. We definitely don't want the kids to accidentally touch that incision.
On last Wednesday the kids and I made cards for the school valentines day party. This was quite an event. Next year, I think that I will do them myself and sign their names.
Well, I worked Thursday and Friday, and missed playing in the snow with my kids. I seriously still cannot believe that we had record breaking snow in our area. ( I am going to pause and thank my friend Julie for letting me spend the night at her house on Thursday. Julie lives close to the hospital and she always invites me over if there is inclement weather and I have to work.) Now, I am going to send a shout out to my hubby for taking the kids out in the snow, building a snowman with them and taking lots of photos. Thanks Elijah, You are the best.
Yesterday was Valentines day. We just hung out around the house with the kids and Denim. Well, I think that's it. I can't think of anything else to tell you guys. TTYL

Denim update

I didn't sleep well last night. I was thinking about Denim all night. Elijah and I talked and we both agreed that we would put him to sleep if there was no improvement today. Well, when I went to visit him this morning, he lifted his head when he heard my voice. I spent an hour with him this morning. The vet told us that he would receive a blood transfusion today and hopefully he would be a little better this afternoon. (I actually met the blood donor.)
The afternoon visit was much better. When I went in to see him the staff said that he must be feeling better because he growled when they tried to draw blood or mess with his iv. When he heard my voice he tried to stand up, but he was too weak, so he just rested his head on my leg. I hung out with him for an hour and then I left.
I am so grateful for all of the support that I have received from my friends and family. I really do appreciate all of the text messages. We are taking this one day at a time, and I really appreciate your support during this difficult journey.

My Sweet Denim

The past couple of days have been very emotional for me. Our puppy Denim was diagnosed with cancer and had a major surgery. This diagnosis was totally unexpected. He is only 4 years old, he is not supposed to have cancer at his age.
Denim was not only my puppy, but he was my four legged best friend. We would act goofy around the house all the time. He was my dancing buddy, he was my comforter and he was my food taster.
I really can't imagine life without this dog, but I really don't want him to suffer. I want him to know that he was truly loved and whatever decision that we make, we are making that decision out of our love for him.
Well, I am getting ready to drop the kids off at school and then I will go and visit my buddy.
