Today we celebrated the life and legacy of Dr. King. We woke up, packed a bag of snacks and headed to the city for the annual Martin Luther King Parade. On the way there the local radio station played the "I Have a Dream" speech and Stevie Wonder's Happy Birthday tribute song. Alyssa and I were just singing away :-). After our song, Alyssa shared with us what she learned in school about Dr. King.
Well, the parade was so much fun. It was a meet the candidates, car show and battle of bands all packaged together and called a parade. We were at the end of the parade route so everybody did their break down in front of us. The kids favorite float was the local hip hop radio station's float. The had loud music coming from the float and they stopped in front of us and the entire crowd was dancing and screaming. Daniel was dancing so hard. It was hilarious. I wish I would have recorded it.
We had an awesome day despite the fact the lazy Alyssa didn't want to go initially. (She said that she would rather stay home and watch the parade on t.v.) We are very BLESSED to be living Dr. King's dream. What an AMAZING man. Thank you GOD for the life and legacy of Dr. King.
