I survived the month of May!!!!!!

Wow, May has come and gone and I am totally exhausted.  I'll give you guys a quick overview of the month.  We started the month off with Mother's day.  The kids took me to Babe's chicken.  I received a Kindle Fire, flowers and handwritten cards and books.  I absolutely LOVE my kindle.  I have read 4 novels since I received it.

Teacher's appreciation was next.  The kids and I spent an entire day decorating Sonic drink cup holders.  We then filled each compartment with the teacher's favorite things.   The school sends home a list a couple of weeks before teacher's appreciation week with things that your teacher would like and you just select items from the list to give to her.  I guess that cuts down on her regifting things.  So Alyssa 's teacher received a mini chocolate chip cake (from Nothing Bundt Cake), paper clips from Vera Bradley, almonds, chocolate and a large sweet tea from chick-fil-a.

The Awana  award's ceremony was next.  This is their third year in Awana, and each year I tell myself that I can't do it the next year.  It is such a commitment from both parent and child.  I must confess that I have threatened to punish Alyssa for not reciting her verses.  I then realized that it is not a good idea for me to teach  them bible verses after working a 12 hour shift.  So I changed my teaching method and we started to sing and dance to bible verses on my days off.
Daniel did really well this year. He was pretty consistent all year.  He was Cubbie of the Year.  We were shocked and excited that he received this award.  He was the only boy in his class of 17.  Alyssa started the year off weak but finished strong.  She actually completed her Sparks book 1.  I am so very proud of her because she recited about 10 verses the last 2 weeks in order to complete her book.  Elijah and I are very proud of them. The kids were happy because Uncle Lad came to see them receive their awards.

Field day, the  Kindergarten Beach Bash and the Kindergarten program took place this month.  I actually volunteered for the first two because my kid gave me the sad puppy dog eyes.  Alyssa was too funny on field day.  I told her that she may get wet because they were having water games.  She asked me if she would get her hair done if it got wet and I told  her no.  She goes to Ms. Catherine every other week and this was not her week.  Little Miss Priss takes a shower cap to school.  One of the mom's came up to me and said that Alyssa was being very careful and she was avoiding the really wet games because I told her she could not get her hair wet.   That's my Alyssa. She is really into her appearance.  She and her 6th grade buddy were the only 2 dry people at the school.

We ended the month with Daniel's pre-k graduation and Alyssa's recital.

The month of May was filled with so many activities.  So many proud Mommy/Daddy moments.  I am so grateful that God blessed us with our two little ones.  They are growing up so quickly.  I am really trying to savour these special moments.  This last picture is of the 1st and last day of school. Again, thanks for reading our blog.  See ya next month.  :-)
